LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE LIFE Life
A Long Ago
My head is empty
The present fades away
The legs that used to carry me
Hold very little sway
The loneliness of past
Where no one lingers long
Cackles in my head
A sentimental song
The time it takes to realise
Is all that's left to me
The flash of light it generates
Is all that I can see
But if all that's there are memories
Then here the truth is told
Life was lost a long ago
To those whose hearts grow cold.
A Toast To The New Year
Here's to yours
And Here's to mine
Here's to those time's left behind
Here's to the noo
And here's to the morrow
Here's to joy
To hell with sorrow.
Fear
There was an Arab
Afraid of sand.
There was a Farmer
Afraid of the land.
An old Eskimo
Afraid of the snow
A lighthouse keeper
Afraid of the glow.
And the lovely Claire
Afraid of thin air.
While Cap’n McNee
Was afraid of the sea.
All of them
Held terror near
But none of them
Was afraid of their fear.
Sometimes
Sometimes It's a crazy world
And sometimes it all fits
Sometimes I'm on top of it
And sometimes I'm in bits
Sometimes with my eyes tight shut
I can hear the baying crowds
Sometimes with my back straight up
I can reach into the clouds
Sometimes it’s all simple
And sometimes it's a mess
Sometimes there's a pimple
Which I know I shouldn't press
Then sometimes despite all this
Running through my head
Sometimes, maybe in a kiss
I'll be somewhere else instead.
How It Works
Get down on your knees and pray
(you know how it works)
And beg me to make it go away.
Don't ask why I made it so
(no one knows how this works)
That's a mystery you don't need to know.
I'm the creator of everything
(I know how it works)
From a deadly virus to a spider's sting
Strange to think while you're on your knees
(Do you know how it works?)
I'm the creator of all disease
I made you and I love you true
(you know how it works)
And the rules say you must love me too
Because there's this place I call hell
(and do you know how that works?)
By the way I made hell as well
Well if you don't do just as I say
Then for eternity I send you away
(that's how it works)
Not for a while or until you learn
But forever and forever you burn
(hmm, is that how it works?)
They're the rules, I made them too
(this is how it works)
So I hope you know now what to do.
Laughter
The laughter has all gone
Days have lost their shine
Twilight marches on
While time commits a crime
The nights are long and dark
Morning's far away
Voices pitched and stark
Skies are low and grey
My fingers clutch the earth
Like a tree which bears no fruit
Holding on for all their worth
But withered at the root
The leaves are turning brown
Frosty fingers round my throat
Pour me, poor me in the ground
Some would cry and some would gloat.
Mr Trouble
Come on Mr Trouble we both have much to do
The clock is tick ticking and I'm sat here waiting for you
Come on Mr Trouble we both have places to go
The curtain is rising and I'm ready to start starting the show
Come on Mr Trouble the ship is slip slipping its dock
The crow's in its nest and we're all busy watch watching the clock
Come on Mr Trouble the time keeper's ting tinging his bell
The crowd brays for blood and one of us is go going to hell.
A New Day
A new day
Carries the promise
Sunrise
Sheds daylight upon us
And we squint
In the rays
As we drink
In the days
That living and life
Plainly honours
We don't all dress alike but we all need warmth. (10w)
